After that, choosing the correct size was critical for pad performance, ease, of use, and speed. Our pads are tough, long lasting, washable, and can be used with either a rotary buffer or a Porter Cable orbital buffer. This versatility makes them makes them ?all stars? What makes them the MVP and where we really SCORE is the unique design, not as a gimmick, but to make the pads actually perform better. Here is what we did. First we wanted to limit the pad choices to avoid confusion and help you save money. Our SCORE wool pad is made of only the finest natural lambs wool. Its absence of a hard plastic backing is for a specific reason. A pad that is hard and inflexible will be more aggressive, harder to maneuver, and create more ?hot? spots which increase swirls. It is made of untwisted lambs wool which is extremely soft. This pad is still aggressive enough to remove scratches and imperfections, but soft enough so it will not severely mar and haze the paint surface. We developed the SCORE foam buffing pads by working in concert with a major buffing pad manufacturer and exhaustively testing dozens of prototypes. We know these foam pads look rather simplistic. But that’s the true beauty of these pads! Most of the buffing manufacturers have “gimmicks” or “tricks” they do to the pads, such as waffling the foam, putting pockets in the foam, cutting grooves, or fancy designs in the foam and so on. We have been down that path ourselves. And to be honest…..It just does not work! Once the foam is cut into, it takes away the structural rigidity of the foam and changes its characteristics a little bit. Sometimes the pad is more difficult to control, and sometimes it falls apart prematurely. Also, when mistakenly hitting an obstacle, the “gimmick” pads tend to shear apart and they have to be discarded.We love flat buffing pads!! No, they don’t take a “sexy” picture, nor can we make all kinds of fancy claims that the other companies do with their “gimmick” pads, but you know what?? These pads work, and they will last!! And they will cost you less because of the simplicity. The major benefits of the SCORE pads are still many. First, A flat pad will give a much more even and consistent buff. Also, the Score pad will nearly eliminate buffer chatter and bounce, and the grippy feeling which occurs with some soft pads, or when excess product sits on the top surface of the pad. The reticulated foam that we use will prevent this. The flat pads will glide better across a paint surface. The Velcro stretches all the way across the entire back of the pad. This makes peeling the pad off the backing plate much easier with virtually no chance of peeling off the Velcro. Our gluing process of the Velcro to the back of the pad is also the finest in the industry, which will hold up against peeling. WE guarantee this Velcro will not peel! If it peels we will send you a new pad.Not to be forgotten as well, is the quality of our foam. We chose the finest foam to not only stand up to hard use, but the foam choices in the different categories of buffing (cutting, light or medium cut, and final polishing) are a perfect compliment to each other to produce perfect results on every paint surface. We have the perfect combination of foam choices that few other buffing pads have.The last, but one of the most important things is the size of the SCORE pad. We made it in a 6.5 inch diameter for a number of reasons. You do not need a huge diameter pad to buff a vehicle. We have championed smaller buffing pads for over 10 years, especially with a high speed buffer. Many of the other oddly shaped, bigger diameter pads also will not sit completely flat against the paint surface. The portion of their pad that is actually contacting the paint surface as you buff is generally much smaller than the full pad itself. These bigger diameter pads will be a nuisance and more cumbersome to buff around obstacles such as door handles, mirrors, antennas, emblems, and more. A 6.5 inch size is the perfect diameter pad. Also the SCORE pads can be used with either a high speed buffer or a Porter cable buffer. Simply attach our special soft urethane backing plate to each machine and you now have the same pad for both machines. Of course, this will save you money in not having to buy pads for 2 machines!
