Of course a key, but many times, overlooked member of the buffing team is the 6 inch backing plate. Todays vehicles do not have many flat panels. However, many of the backing plates available are very large, very hard, and very thick. This makes the buffing process more difficult and leads to more swirl marks and even burned paint.
